It’s Never Too Late To Start

Today we think that if we’re too old to start on a project, we’ll never get to finish that project. We begin to give up on our hopes and dreams because we never started.  What do you feel like you’re too late to start on in your life? A business? Teaching? Going to college? I’m here to tell you that it is never too late to start on anything. Especially if God has called you to do this specific assignment. He’s going to help you start and finish your project.
Why do we feel like it’s too late to start on something?
1. Age
  • We think that we are too old to learn something new. You’ve always wanted to go to college, but now you’re older than 30 and feel like you can’t process school as much as a person under 30. You can do anything if you put your mind to it.
  • I have a better one for you if you’re a Christian, nothing is impossible for your God to see you through! (Phil.4:13). You may have wanted to start a garden, teach a class, write a book, and so much more. You’ve let your age stop you! You’re never too late to start! God used Abraham to go to a place he had never been before to become of a father of many nations. Abraham was 175 years old! He used Abraham and Sarah as an old couple to have a child so that we could be born. They were 90 and 100 years old at this time (Gen.17:17). It proves at its finest that your age doesn’t matter when you start on something.
2. No Skill
  • Maybe you’ve gone through a traumatic situation and always wanted to share it with the world. But, you’re not great with public speaking. That shouldn’t stop you from chasing your dream! You can always learn to speak in public in front of your family, taking a communication class, or you can read some books on communication skills such as TED TALKS by Chris Anderson. He gives pointers on how to accomplish public speaking and also provides insight on reserved people who are now gracing the world with their voice.
  • Another example from the Bible, God used Moses when he had a speaking problem (Exo.4:10). The Lord told him that He would be his voice and teach Moses what to say (Exo.4:12). If God could use someone with a speech problem, He can certainly use you!  If you have no skill for something that you really want to do, you can always learn. Every talent that we have is not a gift, we had to learn how to do something from someone, i.e., reading a book, writing, learning another language, etc.
3. Comparing Our Lives
  • You’ve always been into fitness, and at first, you think as a 20 something-year-old, you can become a fitness enthusiast. Then you see a 17-year-old girl that seems like she has it together with her fitness routines, healthy eating habits, and her fit body. You feel like people won’t pay attention to you compared to a 17-year-old girl.
  • Let’s say that you’re a 20 something plus sized women and starting to enjoy fitness. Do you know how many plus sized people you can inspire that want to be like you? As I said, in Stop Comparing Yourself To Others, don’t get discouraged with yourself because someone else seems like they got it together. You don’t know what they had to do to get to that part of their life!

4. Nothing to Offer the World
  • I’ll use myself as an example for this one. I never thought that I could be relatable to anyone. As a reserved person, I never thought people wanted to hear what I had to say. I remember when I started using social media, I always thought do people or family want to see my post?
  • As a 21-year-old, I’ve learned that I have something to offer to the world because God allowed me to experience life differently. I am able to share my experiences and notice that I wasn’t going through that path alone. People tell me “I remembered when I was picked on like that for my skin tone. “ or “Wow I thought I was alone.” I didn’t realize how much the world needed my voice until I started putting myself out there on social media.
  • I’ve connected with so many people like me because I let go of my fear of “I have nothing to offer to the world.” We all have gifts and talents that God wants us to showcase to the world. We don’t know how much we can help one another with our gifts, skills, and ideas until we share it with the world.
The world needs your light to shine! The darkness cannot overpower the light, my friends! It is never too late to start on anything whether you’re 40 and older or younger than 40. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have the skill for what you enjoy, you can always learn. Your older life should not be compared to a younger life because you can do anything through Christ who strengthens you! Remember that you have a lot to offer to the world. Don’t let the enemy lie to you that it is too late to start in life! If you have breath in your body, you can still achieve your hopes and dreams!
I hope that you are inspired and motivated to start that dream today! If you have any older family/friends such as 40 and older, print this out and share it with them. They need to know this as well!. Thank you for reading! I appreciate your comments and shares. Have a great day, evening, or night!
Prayer: God, we come to you right now to release our fears of being too old to start your assignment. Help us to accomplish your plans no matter what obstacles we may be facing right now. Take away the comparison and hopelessness spirit. Help us to know that our future lies in your hands no matter our age. Give us the mind to do what you called us to do wholeheartedly. Remove the Devil and his workers from our minds and spirits! We can do all things possible in Your name! In Jesus name, Amen!
Jeremiah 4:24 KJV – And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
