Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

We all like to be comfortable in our homes, with relationships, work, and school.  I believe we can get too comfortable with our life that we are afraid to be uncomfortable. If something shifts from our comfort, we’re like “whoa wait a minute. What’s going on?” The comfort may have shifted in your life when you lost something or someone you love. If you’re in college, you may have failed a class for the first time. I believe that when our life goes left, we learn what it means to have faith in God.

Being comfortable in our lives will never help us grow in our walk with Christ. When everything is well in our life, we tend to forget about Jesus. We push Him away until something bad happens. I came to tell you that Jesus is not a coat rack. We should not just hang Him up in our  lives when it is going great. We always need Jesus! See, Jesus has to shake our lives a little bit so that we can depend on Him. We can build our faith in Him during the uncomfortable moments in our lives, so when we are enjoying our lives, we can continue to trust Him.

In Ruth, a woman named Naomi was married to a man named Elimelech, they had two sons named Mahlon and Kilion. Life seemed fine for Naomi until her husband, Elimelech died. It became worse when ten years later, she lost her two sons. She lost her comfort in life, and changed her name to Mara (bitter). She lost her faith in God and questioned why this was happening to her. When we get uncomfortable in our season, we wonder why did we get that roommate, why did we lose our job, or why did we lose our friends? We become uncomfortable with losing things because they are things we are familiar with. This is the moment when we have to step out of our comfort zone and trust God with our life. When we trust God, He brings greater things to our life, a better job, better friends, or maybe to learn an amazing lesson. Naomi learned that she had a friend in her daughter-in-law Ruth. Through Ruth, Naomi gained a grandson named Obed that would continue the family tree.

God cannot change us when we are too comfortable in our seasons. If we are going to live for God, we cannot be the same person that we were in the world. God has to break our bad habits, issues, and bad personality traits. We can’t get into the Kingdom of God being bitter, malicious, cursing, murderers, and sinning. We have to be renewed and changed into a new person in Christ. We have to learn to adapt to the Fruit of the Spirit (Gal.5:22-23) and learn how to be like Jesus. This is why it is important to read your Bible, so that you could learn to follow Jesus example.

Don’t get too comfortable with your life because this place is not your home! Don’t get too comfortable because as long as you are living, you always have work to do. Maybe God needs to strip you down from being impatient to being patient. God may need to change your attitude, so He puts you in a situation where you learn to have a better attitude. We have to recognize that our uncomfortable season is going to become better for our future. When life gets shaky, we need to stay in our Word, praise and worship God, and keep praying to God.

The devil wants us to lose our minds while we are uncomfortable. When we’re low, we’ll become desperate to do anything and that’s what the devil wants. Never stoop low to the devil when you are stepping out of your comfort zone. Our uncomfortable season is used to break us and build us, not to lose faith in who God is. God is and always will be the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end of our lives(Rev.1:8). He knows what is best for us and how He can turn our attention to Him. He knows how to fix us when we are broken.

If you feel like you’re in an uncomfortable season, keep your focus on God. You may feel like you are losing everything right now, but you need to know that God is about to build you back up! Keep striving to LIVE no matter what is happening right now. Pray to God and just tell Him you need His strength! He will get you through whatever you’re going through because He allowed that situation to happen in your life for a reason. Nothing is a mistake in your life. Every detail in your life is for God’s purpose.

I love you all! I hope this post blessed you! I hope you understand why you are feeling uncomfortable. Thank you for reading, commenting, and sharing! Have a great day, evening, and night!

Prayer: Lord, someone is dealing with an uncomfortable season. Someone is hurting and wondering why life is shaky right now. Lord Jesus, we come to you right now to speak LIFE into them. Help them get through this rough time in their life. Build them up to be better. Reveal to them what lesson you are trying to teach them! God help us to grow closer to you when we are uncomfortable! Lord remind us that this is not our home! In Jesus name, Amen!

Isaiah 40:31 NLT – But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Right! Through the uncomfortable times, we will receive God’s blessing/lessons at the end. He needs to test us to see how faithful we really are to Him.
