Do you have family or friends that just text/call you when they feel down? They know that you are the holy person of the family or friends. They just call/text you for encouragement and then they don’t text/call you for a long time until they feel that way again. I believe that’s how Jesus feels when we only turn to Him during a rough patch in our life. When we’re smiling and enjoying our lives, we’re like “oh who needs Jesus right? My life is going great right now.” We don’t talk to Jesus while we’re happy. We don’t praise and worship while enjoying our finances. We don’t read our Bible and pray when life is good! Ohh, but when our sister got in a bad car accident, when our dad almost lost his life, and when we’re feeling depressed, there we are running to Jesus. “God if you do this, I’ll live for you. God if you do that, I’ll go back to church.” I know that it hurts Jesus heart when we just push him aside until life gets rough.
I believe we’re lukewarm when we just turn to God during the bad times. We get back into the world when we’re happy. Having an “I don’t need Jesus because life is good” mentality is nothing but from the enemy. We should praise God during the good and bad times. What makes us think that we should only pray to God when life isn’t going well for us? Why do we think worship is only for when we are sad? A relationship with God is supposed to be something we keep up with all the time. We should be praying every day even when things go right! God is our source when we are weak and when we feel strong. God wants us to speak to Him on our best and worst day. 1 Peter 5:7 says “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” The Bible didn’t say cast your cares when it’s rough out here but cast ALL your concerns on Him. Cast your happiness, anger, stress, peace, and so much more. Give it to God. He wants to hear everything from you. The Lord is so excited when you tell Him about your day whether it was stressful or stress-free.
Stop turning to Jesus just because your life is going downhill. A real Christian will practice a relationship with Jesus every day. As Christians, we desire more of His presence even when we are tired. We want Him in our day no matter what happens. The enemy deceives you into thinking that Jesus can only be a part of the difficult times in life. I want to say something else. Worship may seem like a collection of slow Gospel music, but it’s not. You should still worship daily even when you feel great. We give God thanks through worship. It’s not all about giving God praise when you get a new job, a new man, new friends, and other good things in your life. We have a problem with getting on our knees on the tough days, but we need to make the devil mad and get on our knees on our best days. Do you just call your boyfriend or girlfriend on a bad day? No, you call him or her every day because you want to keep the connection between each other. A perfect example of how you need to connect with God.
God wants to see you have a great day, but He wants to know how you are going to react during your trials and tribulations. Are you going to praise and worship only when things are falling apart? Are you going to praise and worship Him even when life is looking great? The world can only make you happy temporarily, but when you’re full of Christ, you will be joyful even when your life is falling apart. If you feel like your life is crumbling, take it to God. If you feel like your life is fantastic, take it to God with joy. The devil needs to see who you’re serving all the time not just when your life is challenging.
See, when your life is going great, you could return to the world and go back to your old ways. The enemy can trick you like that. “Life is good. I’ll go to the club one time with my old friends. I won’t do it again after that.” Then the devil puts you in this cycle of “ Life is good. I can sin one time. I won’t do it again after that.” If you continue to root yourself in Christ on the best day, you will know how to defeat the enemy on your worst day. The Lord allows the enemy to wreck your life so that you will make your way back to Him. We can’t keep going back and forth with The Lord. We need to have a solid relationship with Jesus every day of our life. It’s the only way we can get into the Kingdom. My biggest fear is to hear The Lord say “depart from me. I never knew you (Matt.7:23).” That would hurt my heart and then I would be turned over to the devil. I never want to be with the devil in Hell, so I try my best to stay connected with God every day even when I feel so exhausted. I’m learning to give thanks and pray when it’s been a great day, and I thank Him even when it’s terrible. Rough times in our lives are never to punish and defeat us, they are to build our faith in God. God wants our faith in Him every day!
I used to be like you probably are right now. I only include God apart of my life when everything is horrible. During my freshmen year of college, I was praying hard for Him to get me out of the room with my first roommate and when I got out of there, I thanked Him. I started to enjoy my second roommate, and I slipped back into the world. I wasn’t spending time with Him because life was good. I was watching shows that I had no business watching and entertaining filthy music. If I had stay connected with God, I would have still seen beauty in living a holy and acceptable life. But, I was like life is good right now. I want to watch that ungodly show one time. I won’t do it again after that and guess what? I did it some more until I was struggling still with my grades. Then I picked up God again.
I’m at a place in my life where I’m so thankful for what God is doing in my life. Even when things are not the best, I realize that He is still GREAT! God gives us so much mercy and grace. We take those things for granted when we fall back into the world during our good days. Keep loving on God every day everyone! Connect with Him every day. If you feel like your morning moves too fast, get up an hour early to spend time with God. Bad days are not enough to just turn to God for. Celebrate Him because He’s GREATLY to be praised during good and bad days.
I hope that this post blessed you and it makes you want to turn to God on your good days. God is GOOD every day! I love you all! Have a fantastic day, evening, and night!
Prayer: Lord, we pray that you remind us to give you praise and worship on our best day. Help us to include you in our everyday life. Help us to enjoy your presence during rough and great times. We love you, and we desire more of you! For someone who does not know you well Lord, help them to wake up and spend time with You. Also, help them to spend time with You before they rest at night. Lord thank you for reminding us that you are not just here for the bad times, but you are here every day. In Jesus name, Amen!
If you want to give your life to Christ right now, here’s the prayer:
Dear God, I know that I’m a sinner and I need a Savior. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose again. I want to turn away from my sin and live a godly life. I now invite Jesus Christ into my heart as my Lord and Savior. I am willing to follow Him as Lord of my life from this day forward. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.
Believe this prayer in your heart and know that you are saved. If you said this prayer, please comment below! I want to see people make the choice to turn their life around to follow Jesus. If you skipped the choice to say the prayer, I will pray for you and hope that one day you will make the choice to follow Jesus before it’s too late.
