Are You Really Saved?

Today it is hard to tell who is living for Jesus. The world identifies Christians as going to church on Sunday or being a part of praise and worship team. In the world that we live in today, we need to know if we are saved or not. We need to know if the people surrounding us are actually saved or playing games. When you are committed to Christ, you will make an effort to trust Him and believe that He will change you into a better person through long-suffering and trials. You will obey His commands because you have a heart to please Him with your mind, heart, and soul. You will show love to everyone including strangers.

I’m not saying saved people are perfect and everyone else is beneath them. No, that’s not what I’m saying at all. I’m saying that Christians will make an effort to live right for their Father. They don’t want to willfully sin or make mistakes just because God will forgive them. They want God to look at them and be proud of everything that they do.

Let’s take a look at the lukewarm Christian. They are the ones that go to church on Sundays, entertain clubs and hookah lounges, use profane language, pray every night before they sleep, and ignore God on the weekday. They might pick up their Bible on the weekday when they feel like it. I know lukewarm pretty well and any person before they came to Christ knows this too. As I’ve said in previous posts,  I was saved at 14. I went to high school trying to start my journey with Jesus. I kept falling on my face because I was a people pleaser, but still attempted to live for Jesus. I couldn’t understand that because I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior, people were going to hate me regardless. They hated my Father, that’s why they nailed Him to the cross, they beat Him, spit on Him, and mocked Him with a crown of thorns on His head.

A lot of people walk around going to church and leave the same way they came. There is no substance (Holy Ghost filled) or change in their lives. Too many people want to be a part of the world and a part of the Kingdom. You can’t have both if you want to live for Jesus. You can either be a part of the world OR be a part of the Body of Christ.

The drinking, smoking, profanity, and secular music will not take you further into the Kingdom of God. As long as you keep the world on your shoulder, you will always feel stagnant in your relationship with Christ. It’s important to let go of the worldly ways to go further in God’s plan for your life. Let me be personal, if I had never given up the world’s ways, you wouldn’t be reading this blog posts. This blog wouldn’t exist if I did not press into God’s presence and ask Him to be a part of my daily life. If I still used profane language, listened to  Hip-Hop music, and was paying attention to gossip blogs or television shows, my mind would never be clear to hear God’s instructions. I wouldn’t be spiritually aware, of what’s going on in our world to indicate that the end is near. I wouldn’t be able to know that God can speak to me in different ways.

I watch a lot of people say with their mouths that they are saved, but through their actions, they’ve indicated that they are far from God. That is a scripture in the Bible. Matthew 15:8 NKJV says “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.” Jesus knows who’s His children and who’s isn’t. You maybe fooling your friends that you know Jesus, but you’re certainly not fooling Him. (John 10:3)

It takes a lot to live for Jesus. It’s not just about how much you read your Bible, how many scriptures you know by heart, or praying before you go to bed. You’re dedicating your life to the One who saved you from Hell. Living for Jesus is about losing the desires of the world even though you live in the world. You’re willing to lose your drinking buddies. You’re willing to lose your party friends. You’re willing to let go of all those lustful R&B albums. You’ll do anything that God tells you to let go of because you trust that He has better for you. You’re afraid to let go because you don’t know what’s next. You’re afraid to suffer for Jesus. As a Christian, the Bible instructs you to endure in longsuffering. (Gal.5:22-23)

People like to ask “why do we have to suffer if Jesus is so great?” The answer is you are a disciple when you give your life to Christ. You have to lay down your life the way Jesus laid down His life for us, His friends. ( John 15:13) Jesus suffered on the cross for us, so that we could be saved from the pits of Hell. God wanted to redeem His children back through Jesus Christ! We endure longsuffering for Jesus to show that we want more of Him. Nobody wants to suffer through loneliness. Nobody wants to suffer financially. But through suffering increases our faith, builds or shapes us into the person that God wants us to be, and it makes us stronger in Christ. We won’t suffer always, but the challenges we have allows us to receive the amazing life God has for us.  A lot of people want to have everything that they can because they see the Hollywood influencers have it. Hollywood influencers have to sacrifice to get the life that they are living. Some of these Hollywood influencers are living for the devil, but that’s another post for another day.

Ask yourself these things:

  • Are you seeing a change in your life as you walk to Christ?
  • Do you notice yourself leaving worldly things to come to Him?
  • Do you see yourself as saved if you have/ are dropping those bad habits at Jesus feet?

Ask God does He know you. If He tells you He doesn’t, don’t get discouraged. Ask Him to help you get to know Him better. I could write about what to do and what not to do as a Christian all day, but it’s your choice to surrender your life to Christ. You should know where your home will be when you close your eyes for the last time. If you’re still alive, you will know when the Lord raptures us up to Heaven. Your grandparents, mom, dad, brother or sister can’t help you go to Heaven. They can pray all the time on your behalf, but it is YOU who needs to know if you are saved in Christ.

I hope that this post blessed you! I pray it makes you look at your own life to see if you are aligning your life with God’s Word. If you don’t understand what I said in this post, please contact me. Let’s talk! I want to help you understand the way of living for Jesus! Have a blessed week!

Revelation 3: 15 –17 CSB – [15] I know your works, that you are neither cold or hot. I wish that you were cold or hot. [16] So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth. [17] For you say, ‘I’m rich; I have become wealthy and need nothing’, and you don’t realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.
